There are many ways in which you may be involved with ministry to seafarers with your church. One of those ways is to collect shoe boxes and fill them with Christmas gifts for seafarers which we distribute from November 15th. through December 25th. every year. The birth and love of Jesus Christ is shared for others throughout the world and you will be blessed in the experience of giving.
Another way in which your congregation might participate in this ministry is to have one Sunday during the year set aside as Sea Sunday. During this day of worship you may focus on the life of seafarers and the industry which surrounds their work. You may offer prayer for them and celebrate God's presence in this work. A special offering might be set aside for this ministry and Port Chaplains might be invited to be a part of this worship time.
One of the most important opportunities for you and your church in Seafarers Ministry is to be a Missionary. We can provide an opportunity to help and train you for servicing seafarers so that your church may be a part of mission with seafarers from all over the world. World Mission is able to happen without ever leaving Houston. As you spread God's love and Word with us to seafarers, other lives may be touched and your own life will be transformed.
